To make sure that students only visit relevant pages and to protect your system against potential viruses found in unwanted files, you can adjust a large number of settings to block files and animations:
- Select blocked extensions for Web pages, file transfers and e-mails:
archives (compressed files), images (jpg, bmp, gif, etc.), videos (mpeg, avi, mov), audio files (wav, MP3, midi, etc.), texts, executables (program files), PDF (e.g. Universal PDF file or Acrobat® Reader) .
- Allow Flash animations, Scripts, Applets and Active X.
This allows you to block interactive content that can display animations or install small programs that may be violent or unsuitable.
Scheduling tool for computer and Internet usage
Computer or Internet access – You may set a schedule that allows users to access the computer or the Internet only during specific hours, thereby preventing unsupervised use, e.g. during breaks.
Similarly, you can allocate "time slots" and define the total amount of time students in your school are allowed to surf the Internet on a weekly, monthly or daily basis, etc.
Block programs and folders
You can prevent students from opening some of your folders to protect your educational work and personal notes. You also have the opportunity to restrict access to particular setting tools (Control Panel) to ensure optimal system performance.
Individual access for each child?
Teachers or leaders may decide to supervise students closely or encourage them to act more responsibly. To respond to this need, Enterprise Filter allows them to create individual profiles for each student or each group of students (workgroup, class, level).
If you associate a Windows username to a class or student account, Enterprise Filter will run automatically and the security levels you have defined will be automatically applied at Windows startup.
Remote connection
If you wish to do so, you can connect to a remote computer on which you installed Enterprise Filter to make changes to the software settings on that computer. This may be a computer in your office, or the headmaster's workstation.
Reports and controls
Enterprise Filter makes it possible to monitor what your school's computers have been used for:
Statistics and History: This feature allows you to see at a glance which sites have been visited by students, and which programs have been run.
Screen: This feature allows you to record screen captures or videos at regular intervals to check whether students' activities are appropriate and report potential issues to teachers. This may also be used to check the progress of a learning project.
Keyboard: This feature allows you to display all keyboard strokes entered by students in order to view searches performed in search engines and messages exchanged, or to display essays written by students.
Remote control: This feature allows you to monitor computers on which Enterprise Filter is installed from a local area network computer or via the Internet.
Authorizations: If one of your students wants to access blocked content, he/she may submit a request by clicking on the corresponding button. You will then have the opportunity to unblock or not the related application or website, based on its educational interest.
Software license:
The Enterprise Filter license is valid for 1 year. After that, you many continue to use Enterprise Filter but you will no longer be able to receive updates. To take advantage of the latest updates for the filtering engine, white lists and enhancements, you will have to renew your license.
We offer special prices for schools who wish to buy or renew their licences. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
Licenses for multiple computers are available for schools equipped with several computers. We encourage schools with more than 10 computers to use the Enterprise Filter Network solution.
